More Lenten thoughts

More snow today and the outdoors look beautiful.  One of the Sisters said the snow-covered trees and powdery snow remind her of Narnia from the "Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"!

I discovered a helpful blog this morning and I am sending it along to you.  It has a slant on fasting during Lent.  Check out the link to Operation Rice Bowl and the recipes it contains.  I hope to have us try some of them.  http://www.ncregister.com/blog/matthew-warner/this-lent-give-away-what-you-give-up.  However I guess if one enjoys these recipes too much it might not seem like fasting!

I found the Gospel reading today very convicting and consoling.  Perhaps it will say something important to you today - something on which to meditate these next few days.

Gospel   Lk 5:27-32

Jesus saw a tax collector named Levi sitting at the customs post.
He said to him, “Follow me.”
And leaving everything behind, he got up and followed him.
Then Levi gave a great banquet for him in his house,
and a large crowd of tax collectors
and others were at table with them.
The Pharisees and their scribes complained to his disciples, saying,
“Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
Jesus said to them in reply,
“Those who are healthy do not need a physician, but the sick do.
I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.”

God bless!
