The Answer to our Thirst

Tomorrow, the Third Sunday of Lent, the Gospel is about the well-known “Woman at the Well.” Outside Samaria Jesus sits down at Jacob’s well to rest while his disciples go off to find food. A woman approaches to get water from the well and she meets Jesus and He speaks with her and asks her for a drink. Then begins the famous discourse about Living Water, the water that Jesus gives us, water that will take away our thirst forever.

Jesus answered and said to her,“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again;but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst;the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”Jn 4:5-42 or 4:5-15, 19b-26, 39a, 40-42

Rather than give my own thoughts on this Gospel I invite you to click on the link below for a beautiful, beautiful reflection written by Father Roger Landry, a holy, young priest from the Diocese of Fall River, MA. Our Sisters met him when they were studying in Rome and are greatly inspired by his homilies. The link will take you to his website where there are more treasures on God’s Word.

Hi Sister
Thanks for the link - not one near enough to me I'm afraid! I knew about them because of Fr. Groeschel on EWTN - one of my heroes!

Many thanks for your prayers!
God bless!
