He knew the gentle love of God

During one of our annual retreats our retreat master called St. Francis deSales "the gentleman from Geneva." St. Francis de Sales was indeed the Bishop of Geneva but our retreat master wanted to emphasize the word "gentleman". For this beloved saint was truly a "gentle man".

Today is his feast day and our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI chose this feast to release his message for the 45th World Day of Social Communications. St. Francis de Sales is the patron saint of journalists. Oh how we need his example and intercession today!

Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset. (St. Francis de Sales)

St. Francis de Sales pray for us and for all those who work in the media.
