Today is the glorious solemnity of the Assumption - the feast that celebrates the truth that our Blessed Mother, at the time of her death, fell asleep and was taken body and soul into Heaven. What does this mean for us? Mary was free from Original Sin and therefore she did not experience bodily corruption. We, on the other hand, because we were born with Original Sin will experience bodily corruption. BUT at the end of time, if we have died in the state of grace, our bodies will be resurrected, freed from all deformity and disease, and reunited with our souls to live for all eternity with the Triune God.
