This beautiful handmaid

This evening we watched an excellent DVD from the "Footprints of God" series, hosted by Steve Ray and distributed by Ignatius Press. This particular film in the Footprints series was about Mary, the Mother of God. We thought it an appropriate preparation for the celebration of the Solemnity of the Annunciation (March 25). If you already love our Blessed Mother this film is guaranteed to deepen your love and affection for her. Frankly I found it awesome.

There is so much to be said about the Annunciation I would not know where to begin. It is matter for our meditation today as we honor the Queen of Heaven. Please take time to think about this first Joyful Mystery of the Rosary. The Annunciation is the moment when our Blessed Mother willingly surrendered to God's perfect plan for her life - it was at this very moment when Jesus, the Son of God, came down from Heaven and allowed Himself to be conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit in her womb. This very young, shy, lovely girl - she who had already said "yes" to Him many times before - was now ready to enter into the Father's magnificent plan for the salvation of the world.

Today, let us ask Mary to interced for us so that we may more readily, more easily say "yes" to God when He calls to us. Dear Blessed Mother, pray for us.
