Be a companion on the journey

On Sunday we begin our journey through Holy Week. I pray that for all of us it will not be just another ho-hum week but a time set aside to deepen our relationship with Jesus Christ and to fall more deeply in love with Him! The Scriptures, the Liturgies invite us to enter fully into this sacred time.

A wonderful way to pray this week is to meditate on the accounts of the Passion in the Scriptures (e.g. Mt 26-27, Mk 14-15, Lk 22-23 or Jn 18-19) Take short excerpts each day, read them slowly, and ask the Holy Spirit to inspire your heart with a new awareness of all that Jesus has done for you – for me. Pray for the grace of conversion of heart.

Don’t let busyness and distractions make this another ho-hum week. Enter into the Liturgical celebrations of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil and the joyful celebration of the Resurrection! And beginning now, turn your eyes toward Jerusalem and walk with Jesus along the Way of the Cross.
