A privileged life

Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources. (Luke 8:1-3)

When I was meditating on this Gospel for today it occurred to me that as a Religious Sister I am like one of the women who accompanied Jesus as he went about proclaiming the Kingdom of God. In fact Religious Sisters in general are in a position to do that. Jesus proclaims the Gospel through us, through the Church, and as Consecrated Religious our lives are surrendered to Him. What a great privilege it is to serve Jesus in those we serve, out of our resources, using the gifts He has given us to share with others.

For those of you who are still seeking His will for your life – who are discerning your vocation, consider this reading from St. Luke. Following Jesus as a Consecrated woman is a wonderful way of life!
