My written guarantee

Do you sometimes feel you are too busy to pray? Or you are just too tired? Or you are too distracted? Or you can’t find a quiet place to get in touch with God? Today’s Gospel offers one answer to the dilemma.

Gospel Lk 11:1-4
Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him,"Lord, teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples."He said to them, "When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your Kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread and forgive us our sins for we ourselves forgive everyone in debt to us,

Jesus taught us how to pray to His Father. To Our Father! Over and over again throughout the day we can say this prayer to that One Person who will hear us. God is a Person – a real Person. So when we say “Father” we are calling out to a real Person. In fact, we can linger on that one word – “Father” saying it over and over again. Father. Jesus taught us to call him “Abba” – daddy. We can pray the “Our Father” many, many times during the day. St. Luke’s version in today’s Gospel is briefer than the version in St. Matthew’s Gospel but we certainly know the prayer by heart. We are never too busy to pray the Lord’s prayer, nor too tired, nor too distracted. As we cry out to the Father He hears us and He will put into our hearts a desire to pray more! I guarantee it!
