Let's not forget

As we know, November is the month of the Holy Souls - those men and women who have died and are on their way to Heaven. They are our friends and loved ones who are experiencing the Lord's purifying love in Purgatory and this month is devoted to praying for them that God will receive our prayers for their final eternal rest. Recently I came across a beautiful poem that our late Holy Father, Blessed John Paul II wrote about the promise we find in death:

"From dust you came, and to dust you shall return,"

What had shape is now shapeless.

What was alive is not dead.

What was beautiful is now the ugliness of decay.

And yet I do not altogether die,

What is indestructible in me remains!

What is imperishable in me

now stands face to face before Him Who Is!

Sometimes we forget to pray for our deceased loved ones. Let us not forget and remember that we do pray for them at Mass. "Lord, may the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.!
