Cut out the noise!

We are coming to the end of the third week of Advent. One more week to go! How are you doing with this grace-filled season? You know, the Church gives us this season to prepare spiritually for Christmas because the event that we celebrate on December 25 is the most important event that ever happened in the history of the world. Did you ever think about that? The Father doesn't just want us to rush into the day, out of breath, thinking a million things like "did I get this done?, did I forget this?, why am I so exhausted?!" It's not supposed to be like that.

The world is a noisy place these days - with politics, wars, unemployment, high prices at the supermarket. The Father wanted the birth of His Son to put all of these challenges into perspective. Have we thought about him lately? Have we knelt before Him in the Eucharist and thanked Him for coming? Have we even gone to the Eucharist -to Mass?

You might say, "well Sister, you have it easy - you have times during the day when you can pray and go to Mass. That's not the way it is with me!" Well, you know Sisters are busy too. I can have my body in the chapel when I am supposed to be praying and my mind is filled with lots of distractions too. We all need to take a look at what we are doing and where we are going and examine our priorities, even if that means having our families look at its priorities too.

We have one more week in Advent - a full week until we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Savior of the world - our Savior. Let's block out the noise and think about Him from time to time. He thinks about us ALL the time. As we await His coming He waits for us to come - to Him!
